AbstractNucleophilic substitution reaction of benzyl chloride (BnCl) and KBr in (EO)(27)(PO)(61)(EO)(27) (Pl04)/H(2)O/p-xylene/CO(2) microemulsion was performed at 40.0degreesC. The yield was much higher than that without microemulsion, and hydrolysis reaction of BnCl did not occur, indicating that the CO(2)-induced microemulsion is an effective medium for the reaction.
