Inter-spherulite boundary structure in bulk-crystallized polyethylenes directly observed by atomic force microscopy

AbstractA regular structure formed between the spherulites crystallized from bulk polyethylene was observed directly by atomic force microscopy (AFM) for the first time. It was supposed that the regular structure originated from the stress field induced by the shrinkage effect of the polymeric bulk during its crystallization process. Also the regular structure provided a reasonable hypothesis about the crystallization process of macromolecules.
