AbstractA disklike texture of ethyl - cyano ethyl cellulose/dichloroacetic acid cholesteric solution was investigated using polarizing optical microscopy. This texture was formed by confined cholesteric spherulties in the cholesteric solution between two glass slides and possessed three basic forms: bispirals, concentric circles, and pseudo-concentric circles, Effects of boundary anchoring on the cholesteric condensed structure could lead to an extinction area at the center of the cholesteric disks. Furthermore, effects of a magnetic field on the disklike texture were also investigated.
