AbstractThe free energy and reorganization energy was introduced to index the variation of first-order hyperpolarizabilities of stilbazolium derivatives induced by either donor strengths or solvent polarity. It is observed that the molecular first-order hyperpolarizabilities exhibit a nonlinear relationship with a sum of transition energy from ground to excited states (relative to free energy difference between these two thermally equilibrated states) and half-width of this transition band (relative to reorganization energy).
