AbstractA T-h symmetrical hexakisadduct of C-60 (HDTC60) with inner 12 triethylene glycols and peripheral 12 decyl chains was synthesized. The HDTC60 possesses a reverse micelle-like structure and is used to fabricate novel C-60-Ag nanocomposite. TEM study shows the nanocomposite is less than 10 nm in diameter, While the concentration of HDTC60 has little influence on the size of the nanocomposite. the surface plasma peaks of the silver colloids are blue-shifted along with the increase of the size of the nanocomposite. Also. the optical limiting performance of the HDTC60 can be greatly improved by the formation of the HDTC60-Ag nanocomposite. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
