AbstractA simple and fast method, the frontal velocity analysis method was used to determine the competitive isotherms for p-dihydroxy-benzene and resorcinol on ODS-silica with volume ratio 20 : 80 methanol-water as the mobile phase. The data obtained from it are fitted to competitive-Langmuir isotherms, and the best parameters are obtained. Meanwhile, a classic method, the rectangular pulse method was also used to determine the competitive isotherms for the same system under the same conditions. The results obtained show that the competitive isotherms obtained from the frontal velocity analysis method and the rectangular pulse method are in well agreement. This shows that the simpler and easier method - the frontal velocity analysis can be used to determine competitive isotherms with the same accuracy as the classic method.
