AbstractAdsorption of diaza-15-crown-5 (1,4,10-Trioxa-7,13-diazacyclopentadecane: C10H22N2O3) on Cu(111) in aqueous HClO4 solution has been investigated using cyclic voltammetry and in situ electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Diaza-15-crown-5 molecules form a well-ordered adlayer. A Cu(111)-(4 x 4) structure for the molecular array is determined. A proposed model is used to explain the molecular registry with the substrate. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
