AbstractThe behavior of a new charge transfer complex N-hexadecylpyridinium-Cd (dmit)(2) at the air-water interface was investigated. The Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films were fabricated from the floating layers with or without arachidic acid (AA) as a matrix. Compared with the pure complex, the 1:1 mixture can form better Y-type films, which was proved by W-visible spectra and small-angle X-ray diffraction patterns. Conductivities of the LB films were measured using a two-probe method at room temperature. After iodine doping, the maximum conductivities reached 1.6 S cm(-1) and 3.1x10(-1) S cm-l for LB films of the pure complex and 1:1 mixture with AA, respectively. The spectral changes during oxidation of the LB films were also examined. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
