AbstractA new high efficiency light emitting copolymer of triphenylamine and pure PPV has been prepared. The resulting polymer (TPA-PPV) was highly soluble in common solvents and the solution can be easily processed into a thin amorphous film. The fluorescence quantum yield of this copolymer in chloroform is almost up to 1.00. Thin films exhibit both photoluminescence and electroluminescence, emitting green light. It can be homogeneously dispersed in a PVK matrix and a thoroughly energy transfer occurred because of the overlap between the emission spectrum, of PVK and the absorption spectrum of this copolymer. The single layer light emitting diode Al/TPA-PPV/ITO glass was fabricated and the threshold voltage is 1.5 v.
