AbstractThe GC-MS spectrum of the spent liquor resulted from Tianjin Paper Mill treated with photosynthetic bacterium (PSB) has been analysed. Among the interesting biodegradation products identified are some amino compounds and amides. This may mean that amination and decarboxylation are possibly part of the overall biodegradation process during the photosynthetic bacterial treatment of the waste lignin liquor. The usual ligin organic building blocks form the major biodegradation products analysed from the spectrum. Hypothetical scheme for the formation of the identified amino compound is presented.
