The effects of orientation on solvent induced crystallization rate of annealed fibers

AbstractThe effects of physical aging on the structure and solvent induced crystallization (SINC) rate of PET fibers were studied by density measurement, d. s. c. and mechanical property test. Furthermore the effect of orientation on the crystallization rate of annealed PET fibers was studied. At a certain physical aging temperature below T-g, the SING rate of PET showed an initial decrease but a later increase with the increasing of physical aging time. The effect of physical aging on crystallization has an obvious relation with different orientation states in PET fibers. Samples with higher orientation would show an increase in crystallization rate after shorter annealing time. These phenomena were explained by cohesional entanglement viewpoint.
