AbstractTemperature and pressure dependence of polyaniline doped with beta-naphthalenesulfonic acid (NSA) were measured as a function of its morphology. The temperature dependence of the conductivity for both granular and tubular PANI-NSA can be interpreted within the one dimensional variable range hopping (1D-VRH) model. The To value corresponding to the hopping barrier of charge carrier, for the tubular PANI-NSA is much lower than that of the granular PANI-NSA due to the regularity of tubules. The pressure dependence of the conductivity of the tubular PANI-NSA shows a maximum near 6 Kbar and then decreases, a fact which may be due to the break down of tubules when high pressure is applied. On the other hand the conductivity of the granular PANI-NSA increases constantly with increasing applied pressure due to the decrease in inter-granular resistance when pressure is applied.
