AbstractThe experimental studies on photophysical properties of a new C-60-derivative (2,2-dimethyl-5-spiro-cyclohexanyl-3,4-fulleropyrrolidine-1-oxyl) (DSCFPO) and its composite with poly(3-dodecylthiophene) (P3DDT) are presented. Good solubilities in organic solvents and good thin film formation capabilities are found. The quenching of photoluminescence in a composite thin film of the new C-60-derivative and poly(3-dodecylthiophene) are observed, which could be due to the electron transfer from the polymer to the C-60-derivative molecule. Transport properties of charge carriers of DSCFPO-doped P3DDT film are determined by the disorder effects induced in the polymer matrix by large DSCFPO molecules. The new C-60-derivative can be considered as a promising acceptor photodopant in polymer composites because of its good solubility. (C) 1998 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
