AbstractFeCl3- and GaCl3-catalyzed dehydrative coupling reactions of chromone-derived Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) alcohols with terminal alkynes were developed. The reactions provided exclusively alpha-regioselective and acetylene-substituted products in good yields.
