AbstractSiC inverse opal photonic crystal was prepared from infiltrating liquid polysilylacetylene into close-packed colloidal silica templates. The resultant sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the material exhibited ordered porous structure, and the decomposition residue of the sample was 84% in air at 900 degrees C.
