AbstractThe wheel-shaped heptanuclear cluster complex {[Mn4Na3(thmp)(2)-(acac)(6)(H2O)(6)]CH3COO}center dot 4H(2)O is the first heterometallic mixed-valent disklike compound with apical alkali-metal ions. The weak ferromagnetic interaction between the central Mn4+ ion and the peripheral Mn2+ ones leads to a high-spin ground state (S = 9).
