AbstractNeutral heterocyclic pi-radicals have become the most important stable radicals due to their unique structures and properties. As spin-polarized conjugated molecules, some neutral heterocyclic pi-radicals have received much attention for the studies of molecular conductors and magnetic materials in recent years, including 1, 2, 3, 5-dithia (selena) diazolyl radicals, 1, 3, 2-dithiazolyl radicals, 1, 2, 3-dithia(selena) zolyl radicals, 1, 2, 4, 6-thia(selena) triazinyl radicals, 1, 2, 4-thiadiazinyl radicals. In this paper we discuss the syntheses, structures of these types of neutral heterocyclic pi-radicals, particularly their potential applications as molecular conductors, magnets and spintronic materials.
