AbstractSingle crystalline nanowires of 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole, a small organic functional compound, are prepared by adsorbent-assisted physical vapor deposition. As-prepared nanowires are shown to propagate multimode UV light and serve as single wire active optical waveguides and optically driven ultraviolet lasers (see figure).
